ABOUT
Irene’s Cabinet is the Tin Box's annual literary anthology, established in 2003 by the late Beth Austin, ASH. Except for a couple year's hiatus (during which Jaime Mahoney took the reins), Beth served as the Cabinet's editor through 2019. She was assisted by the typesetting skills of Brent Morris. Each issue of Irene's Cabinet includes essays, stories, drawings, and other works by members and friends of Watson's Tin Box, as well as the winning entry from the current year’s Sherlock Holmes Essay Contest. Copies of Irene's Cabinet have been sold at The Mysterious Bookshop in New York City and are now available for download on this site. After six years in hiatus, Irene’s Cabinet hit the presses once again in 2026. It is a very special issue with tributes to past editors Beth Austin and Jacquelynn Morris. Printed copies are still available at our meetings. Color versions are $15 and black and white are $10. For those not able to attend our meetings, they are also available through mail order. Email Liane for instructions. It's a limited edition so be sure to get one while they last!

Announcing our Call for Submissions – Irene’s Cabinet

After our successful revival, we are planning the 2027 issue of Irene’s Cabinet — and we’re looking for Sherlockian submissions!
You don't need to be a member of Watson's Tin Box to publish in Irene's Cabinet! Whether you’re a seasoned Baker Street Irregular, a fresh initiate to the Canon, or a passionate admirer of the Great Detective and his world, we invite you to contribute your work.
We welcome original submissions of all kinds, including but not limited to:
Deadline for submissions: December 15, 2026
Projected publication: March 2027
Submission format: Word documents preferred for text; high-resolution files (PNG, TIFF, JPG) for artwork. 3,000 word maximum.
Email submissions and queries to: [email protected], with the subject line to read Submission for Irene's Cabinet 2027. Please include a brief author bio and let us know if the piece has been published elsewhere or presented to a scion society.
